Sink-Stable Sets of Digraphs
We introduce the notion of sink-stable sets of a digraph and prove a min-max
formula for the maximum cardinality of the union of k sink-stable sets. The
results imply a recent min-max theorem of Abeledo and Atkinson on the Clar
number of bipartite plane graphs and a sharpening of Minty's coloring theorem.
We also exhibit a link to min-max results of Bessy and Thomasse and of Sebo on
cyclic stable sets
Approximating Gibbs states of local Hamiltonians efficiently with PEPS
We analyze the error of approximating Gibbs states of local quantum spin
Hamiltonians on lattices with Projected Entangled Pair States (PEPS) as a
function of the bond dimension (), temperature (), and system
size (). First, we introduce a compression method in which the bond
dimension scales as if .
Second, building on the work of Hastings [Phys. Rev. B 73, 085115 (2006)], we
derive a polynomial scaling relation, .
This implies that the manifold of PEPS forms an efficient representation of
Gibbs states of local quantum Hamiltonians. From those bounds it also follows
that ground states can be approximated with whenever the
density of states only grows polynomially in the system size. All results hold
for any spatial dimension of the lattice.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figur
Diszkrét optimalizálás
A jegyzet a diszkrét optimalizálás alapvető fogalmait,
problémáit és algoritmikus módszereit tekinti át. Négy fejezetben tárgyalja
az optimalizálási feladatokat gráfokon, az optimalizálási feladatokat matroidokon,
a poliéderes kombinatorika eszköztárát, valamint kitér a merev gráfok
és szerkezetek vizsgálatára is. Bemutatja a klasszikus feladatokra – gráfok párosításai,
jegyzet első része áttekinti a hálózati optimalizálás főbb kérdéseit.
A teljesen unimoduláris
mátrixok segítségével visszakanyarodunk a hálózati optimalizáláshoz
és megmutatjuk, hogy az ottani alaptételek miként adódnak a dualitástételből.
A további részekben bevezetésre kerülnek az egészértékű programozás és
a konvex optimalizálás alapfogalmai
On circuit decomposition of planar Eulerian graphs
AbstractWe give a common generalization of P. Seymour's “Integer sum of circuits” theorem and the first author's theorem on decomposition of planar Eulerian graphs into circuits without forbidden transitions
A Discrete Convex Min-Max Formula for Box-TDI Polyhedra
A min-max formula is proved for the minimum of an integer-valued separable
discrete convex function where the minimum is taken over the set of integral
elements of a box total dual integral (box-TDI) polyhedron. One variant of the
theorem uses the notion of conjugate function (a fundamental concept in
non-linear optimization) but we also provide another version that avoids
conjugates, and its spirit is conceptually closer to the standard form of
classic min-max theorems in combinatorial optimization. The presented framework
provides a unified background for separable convex minimization over the set of
integral elements of the intersection of two integral base-polyhedra,
submodular flows, L-convex sets, and polyhedra defined by totally unimodular
(TU) matrices. As an unexpected application, we show how a wide class of
inverse combinatorial optimization problems can be covered by this new
framework.Comment: 32 page
Adoption of European Union´s Law in Hungary, in the Area of Product Adequacy
The EU measures to introduce the internal market came into force on December
31st, 1992. The Council of the European Community produced a Directive, which
describes harmonization of rules issued by the Member Countries concerning
machines. The European Union is an important economic partner of Hungary. We
analyzed the situation concerning machines before the Hungarian connection to
European Community
